It all began one evening in June 1998 over a few pints of Adnams Best Bitter in my pub. “Here I’ve got a good idea,” says Chris “Let’s build an aeroplane. A proper one that climbs quicker than 500 ft/min and cruises quicker than 90 kts.” An article about a Van’s RV6 was thrust in front of me. “What about one of them?”

There just happened to be a Van’s Fly-in at Peterborough Sibson the following Sunday. We had to drive there as Chris’s License hadn't arrived from the C.A.A. Not long having passed his G.F.T. And me, still under instruction.
The long and short of it was that Nigel Reddish was persuaded to take us for a spin in his 6, G-RIVT.
The conversation on the journey home consisted of “Gotta have one,” and various other statements of a similar nature.
The order form was filled in that evening for the tail section of an RV6 and duly posted 1st thing Monday morning.
We also applied for our end user number from Customs, and registered the build with the Popular Flying Association

This here’s us. Me (Chris) on the left, and my build partner (Chris) on the right.
